Immediately after the presentation of the Xiaomi Mix Fold smartphone, equipped with a foldable screen, the device became available for pre-order in China.
Sales in China were supposed to start on April 16, while initially the manufacturer did not plan to release a new product outside this country. However, at the last moment, plans changed.
According to knowledgeable Chinese sources, Xiaomi, which always listens to the opinions of its huge fan community, has decided to abandon the idea of an exclusive release of Xiaomi Mix Fold only in China. This was also aided by fan activity during the pre-order campaign. Xiaomi New Product Manager Wang Teng Thomas confirmed on his Weibo page that the entire launch batch of Xiaomi Mix Fold was sold out in a matter of seconds.
Now Xiaomi is asking production partners to reallocate resources so that as many smartphones as possible are ready for a global launch in the coming weeks. Presumably, this will happen in May this year.
The Xiaomi Mix Fold has a large 8.01-inch foldable screen as well as a 6.52-inch AMOLED screen on the outside. The manufacturer claims that the hinge part has been tested for 200,000 folding and unfolding cycles. Overall, however, the hinge is rated for 1 million cycles. The main camera uses image sensors with a resolution of 108, 13 and 8 megapixels. It is the first smartphone with a liquid lens that allows a single 8MP camera to be used for both optical zoom and macro photography.
