Today it became known that the flexible OLED display for the new smartphone of the Xiaomi Mi Mix line is supplied by China Star Optoelectronics, a subsidiary of the renowned manufacturer TCL. The source adds that the company is manufacturing this screen exclusively for the Xiaomi foldable phone. Previously, top OLED screens were supplied by Samsung, but the situation has changed dramatically in recent years, and Chinese manufacturers have strengthened their positions.
Over the past two years, different models of foldable smartphones have appeared on the smartphone market. The first such phone, the Royole Flexpai, hit the market back in 2018. However, the segment became more popular with the release of the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X, which have already received successors.
Xiaomi showed a prototype of its flexible screen smartphone two years ago. It could be folded in two places. However, according to the leaks and photos, the commercial device looks like the Samsung Galaxy Fold. The screen of the device will fold down in the middle and hide inside the case when folded.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix foldable phone also uses the world’s first liquid lens, which will expand the device’s camera capabilities. As we already reported, the new Xiaomi Mi Mix’s liquid lenses were created by the Chinese company Ofilm, a former Apple partner.
The presentation of Xiaomi Mi Mix and many other new products will take place today.
