According to the industry association SEMI, which unites manufacturers of semiconductor products and related equipment and materials, the global market for semiconductor materials in 2020 grew by 4.9% compared to 2019 and reached a record value of $ 55.3 billion. The previous record of $ 52.9 billion was set in 2018.
According to SEMI, in 2020, revenues from the production of materials for the manufacture of crystals and cases were $ 34.9 billion and $ 20.4 billion, respectively, up 6.5% and 2.3% compared to 2019.
Taiwan remains the largest regional market for semiconductor materials for the 11th consecutive year. In 2020, $ 12.4 billion was spent here on semiconductor materials. This is not surprising when you remember that Taiwan is the seat of semiconductor manufacturing. At the same time, thanks to the active increase in capacity, mainland China came into second place, pushing back South Korea. Markets in North America and Europe declined last year.
