The Chinese company Konka Group has announced the world’s first smartwatch with a MicroLED display. We are talking about the Aphaea Watch device, which can work without recharging for up to 35 days.
According to reports, the novelty received a 2-inch MicroLED display with a glass substrate with a thickness of 0.12 mm. The screen transmits high-quality images, and the maximum brightness level reaches 1500 cd / m². Simultaneously, the display covers 147% of the DCI-P3 color space and is capable of operating at ambient temperatures from -30 to +70 C °.
MicroLED displays are characterized by high contrast, fast response, and the ability to reproduce deep blacks. Compared to OLED panels, MicroLED displays are brighter and more stable. Even though the manufacturer of displays for smartwatches Konka has not been disclosed, most likely, we are talking about the Chinese company BOE, which last year began mass production of panels of this type.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer announced only the Aphaea Watch’s battery life, which can do without recharging for up to 35 days, and more detailed information about other characteristics, price, and launch times was not announced.
