The Chinese company Huami, known primarily as the exclusive supplier of wearable devices for Xiaomi, including the already legendary fitness bracelets Mi Band, unexpectedly presented not a new gadget, but an operating system of its own design.
The novelty, called Zepp OS, is intended for use in smartwatches produced under its own Amazfit brand and other similar gadgets. The main distinguishing feature of the new OS is its incredibly light weight – only 55 MB! At the same time, the manufacturer managed to fit a lot into these megabytes. For example, Zepp OS supports all possible wearer vital signs monitoring functions and new dynamic effects at over 60 frames per second.
Moreover, it even provides personal data protection functions in accordance with the latest EU data protection requirements. The new system is based on the FreeRTOS real-time multitasking operating system. Meanwhile, the Amazfit PowerBuds Pro wireless earbuds have received active noise cancellation and fitness bracelet functions.
