As we already reported, the South Korean company Samsung is working on a smartphone that will fold in two places. Now there are details about the form factor of this device.
At the moment, Samsung has already released the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones, which fold in one place with the screen inward, while they have different dimensions. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 should fold in two places, with the main screen being about 10 inches when unfolded.
Samsung is currently considering two solutions for such a smartphone. In the first version, the folding occurs according to the same principle as the shutters on the windows are closed. Simultaneously, the flexible screen is completely hidden, so an additional screen for notifications is required outside.
The second option involves folding like an “accordion.” Simultaneously, part of the main screen remains outside, which eliminates the need for an additional display but makes the device thicker than modern foldable phones.
Samsung is expected to officially launch the Galaxy Z Fold 3 model in the middle of this year.
