The launcher of the Epic Games Store was initially scolded for poor optimization, but it seems that the problem has not been completely resolved until now.

When testing the latest Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ tablet, our colleagues were unable to achieve consistent results in battery life tests. They quickly figured out that the reason lies precisely in the Epic Games Store launcher and conducted additional tests to determine its impact on the PC.

As you can see, in certain conditions, autonomy can decrease by 25%, and the average figure was 20%. At the same time, with the Steam launcher, autonomy is reduced by only a few percent.

A similar test of the Surface Laptop 3 on a Ryzen processor showed that the problem is much less pronounced there, although the autonomy also decreases slightly. As a result, if you are playing on a mobile PC using the Epic Games program, it is better to completely close the software after the game or unload it from memory altogether.
