If your computer takes a long time to load game levels and heavy textures, you should consider upgrading your current drive to a faster device. Even if you already have a good SATA SSD installed, its bandwidth is far from the limit. With NVMe SSDs, processing time will be three times faster, making the OS more responsive and loading games faster.

It should be noted that modern NVMe SSDs can be divided into two categories: drives with support for the PCIe 3.0 interface and new “disks” that are able to use the full speed potential of PCIe 4.0. And it, for a minute, offers a two-fold increase in bandwidth compared to the previous generation of PCI Express. However, PCIe 4.0 SSDs are still very expensive and only compatible with a small number of motherboards. So in our selection, we’ll be focusing on affordable PCIe 3.0 NVMe drives.

XPG SX8200 Pro (512 GB)

The XPG brand drive delivers 3,000 MB / s sequential read and write speeds and a decent lifespan. Thanks to the reliable component base and, in particular, the Micron memory, it can be recommended for gamers, overclockers and video content creators. At the controller level, there was also a significant update here: the SM-2262EN versus the SM-2262, which made it possible to achieve a doubling of the device operating speeds.

WD Blue SN550 (500GB)

If you have an M.2 motherboard and don’t want to spend money on an ultra-fast NVMe SSD, then the WD Blue SN550 is the perfect choice for first-time NVMe SSD buyers. Its random read and write speeds are better than most other budget drives under Rs. 6,000. Plus, it doesn’t cost much more than a SATA SSD of similar capacity. And the most profitable acquisition will be the purchase of a terabyte SN550.

GoodRAM PX500 (512 GB)

This Polish-made solution belongs to the class of budget drives and is traded at the most affordable price in our selection (from 5500 rubles). Optimal solution for mass market focused on PCIe 3.0 x4 drives. The manufacturer positions the device as an opportunity to add power to a gaming laptop and PC, which is quite logical at read and write speeds reaching the stated limit of 2 GB / s and 1.6 GB / s, respectively.

Kingston KC2500 (512 GB)

Kingston’s NVMe drive is a really fast SSD, even though it only supports PCIe 3.0. In everyday use, it demonstrates the highest possible speed that can be realized on the PCIe 3.0 lanes available to it, at the same time it impresses with its affordable cost. In fact, in the price range under 7,000 rubles, you are unlikely to find something better than a solution from Kingston and GoodRAM.

ADATA Falcon (512 GB)

The stylish ADATA drive immediately attracts attention with its design: a gold-plated radiator on the front side of the device. At the same time, the presence of a heat sink element did not greatly affect the dimensions, so it will not interfere with other components of the NVMe SSD system. The drive is designed on the basis of a 4-channel Realtek RTS5762DL controller without a DRAM buffer, which is due to its low cost and does not affect the speed indicators: over 3 GB / s for reading and up to 1.5 GB / s for writing.

By the way, SSDs can also perform the functions of a “big flash drive” – of course, if they are made in a separate case. We have a selection of the most successful models. But nobody canceled the usual flash drives either: you can choose one of the fast ones from our top.
