Experts of the analytical company IC Insights studied the situation with the distribution of capacities intended for the production of semiconductor products. As before, Taiwan remains the leader in this regard. Here 21.4% of the world production of semiconductor products is concentrated. Another 20.4% is in South Korea. The distribution is clearly shown in the diagram.

Taiwan is home to 21.4% of world semiconductor production

Analysts clarify that they considered “the total installed monthly productivity of enterprises located in the region, regardless of the location of the headquarters of the companies that own them.” This means, in particular, that the factories of the South Korean company Samsung located in the United States are assigned to North America and not to South Korea.

It remains to add that the data corresponds to the end of December 2020, and China is the leader in terms of capacity growth rate.
