Realme today unveiled the GT Neo smartphone, the world’s first model based on the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 single-chip platform. This SoC resembles the recently presented Snapdragon 780G in its configuration: the CPU includes one Cortex-A78 core with a high frequency of 3.0 GHz, three more such the same cores with a lower frequency and four Cortex-A55 cores. The Dimensity 1200 is manufactured using a 6 nm process technology and has a built-in 5G modem. In terms of performance, it roughly matches the performance of the Snapdragon 870 SoC.
Realme GT Neo is another smartphone with Samsung’s Super AMOLED screen. It features 6.43 inches diagonal, 2400 x 1080 pixels, 120 Hz frame rate and 360 Hz touch layer response. The screen with an embedded 16-megapixel front camera occupies 91.7% of the front panel area. The device turned out to be compact: the thickness is 8.4 mm, the weight is 179 grams.
Realme GT Neo received up to 12 GB of RAM, as well as UFS 3.1 flash memory up to 256 GB. For better cooling, an evaporation chamber is used: the manufacturer claims that it is able to reduce the heating of the SoC by up to 15 ° C.
The main camera of the model is represented by three sensors: the main Sony IMX682 with a resolution of 64 megapixels, an 8-megapixel one connected to an ultra-wide-angle lens with a viewing angle of 119 ° and a 2-megapixel one for macro shooting. Also in the configuration of the smartphone is a 5G modem, Wi-Fi 6 adapters, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC, stereo speakers, a standard headphone jack and a USB-C port. But there is no possibility of using memory cards.
The Realme GT Neo runs Android 11 with the Realme UI 2.0 interface. The capacity of the rechargeable battery is 4500 mAh. Interestingly, despite support for 50W wired charging, a 65W charger is included in the box. This is despite the fact that much more expensive flagships have recently been deprived of a complete charging unit. Also in the box with the GT Neo there is a transparent silicone case.
Taking into account the characteristics, the smartphone turned out to be inexpensive: in China, for the basic version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory, they ask the equivalent of $ 175. The 8/128 and 12/256 GB variants cost $ 305 and $ 365, respectively. Sales start on April 8th.
