Smart Modular Technologies this week expanded the DuraFlash ME2 SATA SSD family with the addition of M.2 2242, mSATA (MO-300A) and Slim SATA (MO-297A) models to complement the previously released M. 2 2280 and 2.5 inches.
According to the manufacturer, the new SSDs are “ideal” for embedded systems, including those operating in difficult conditions: in industrial electronics, in transportation, in medical devices. These drives use 3D TLC NAND flash memory. They are available in a standard temperature range (0 ° C to 70 ° C) and an industrial version (-40 ° C to 85 ° C). Increased reliability is provided through the use of advanced error detection and correction (LDPC) and end-to-end data path protection to ensure data integrity.
All DuraFlash ME2 drives use proprietary SMART Modular NVMSentry firmware, the advantages of which the manufacturer attributes to the ability to customize and optimize for specific requirements. In addition, it includes additional features, including improved secure data wiping.
M.2 2242 drives are available in sizes from 240 GB to 960 GB. They offer read speeds of up to 560 MB / s and write speeds of up to 500 MB / s. The mSATA and Slim SATA sizes are available in sizes from 240 GB to 1920 GB. For them, the maximum read speed is declared equal to 560 MB / s, writing – 520 MB / s.
