The team of the popular messenger WhatsApp has begun testing a new feature for iPhone users. Last month, the self-destructing messages after the first viewing were made available in the beta version for Android.

Now the feature has appeared in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS under the number 2.21.140.9. Recall that such messages from a photo or video are automatically deleted after the first viewing by the recipient.

The stable versions of WhatsApp already have a disappearing message feature. However, it works differently – messages in chats are automatically deleted seven days after they were sent. The new View Once mode causes photos and videos to be instantly deleted after viewing. The sender will receive a viewing alert.

However, so far no one forbids taking screenshots of such messages and the sender will not even know about it. However, the recipient cannot block the read receipt for the sender.

The exact timing of the launch of self-destructing messages in stable versions of WhatsApp is still unknown.
