Analyst firm Counterpoint Research has released statistics showing the success of Samsung’s new flagship line of smartphones.
In the first six weeks of launch in the US, the Samsung Galaxy S21 series sold more than twice the number of Galaxy S20 smartphones a year earlier.
According to analysts, the key role here was played by the lower price of the most affordable version of the Samsung Galaxy S21 – $ 799 and active support from American carriers. Also, the launch of the Galaxy S20 was affected by the unfolding coronavirus pandemic.
Buyers’ preferences for models have also changed somewhat. Counterpoint Research analyst Maurice Klaehne noted:
Compared to last year, the range has undergone significant changes, with one third of S21 sales coming from the base S21 model. The lower cost, coupled with trade-in programs that essentially make the S21 smartphone free, help drive demand for these “entry-level” flagships. Samsung also got the right camera configuration on the base model with three modules like the more expensive S21 +. “
