LetsGoDigital has published renders of a new Samsung smartphone with a flexible display. The renders are based on a patent that Samsung received a couple of days ago.

The trick is that the smartphone will fold in two directions: when folded, the smartphone will resemble the Galaxy Z Flip, and if you turn it to the other side, then you will have access to the screen both from the front and from the back. The third option is to use the smartphone in a fully open state.

The patent application also states that the display will have two cameras. The backlight will be used instead of the flash.

Last but not least, the fingerprint scanner will be built into the display. This smartphone could be the first flexible display phone to implement this technology.

When it will be presented, how much it will cost, and whether it will be presented at all – it is not known. A patent can remain a patent forever.
