Russia poses the most serious and immediate threat to the United Kingdom in cyberspace, while China’s quest to dominate a host of new technologies will change the world. So says the head of the British Cybersecurity Center.
“In cybersecurity – as in other areas of security – Russia poses the most acute and immediate threat to the UK,” the source quoted Lindy Cameron, director general of the National Center for Cybersecurity (NCSC).
“We need to be clear about China’s technological ambitions,” Cameron said. “China will change the world we live in in a much more fundamental way than Russia.”
The NCSC is a division of the Government Communications Center (GCHQ), the UK intelligence agency responsible for electronic intelligence and information security for government and military agencies.
According to Cameron, cybersecurity issues are not yet taken with the necessary seriousness and business leaders need to pay more attention to this issue.
