The main global manufacturer of processors for mobile devices – the American company Qualcomm – presented its next top-end solution, which is guaranteed to become the basis of the vast majority of flagship smartphones in 2021 – Snapdragon 888.
Immediately, we note that the configuration of the chip’s processor cores remains a mystery, but the developer told many other things that are no less interesting. For example, the Snapdragon 888 received an integrated third-generation 5G modem Snapdragon X60, which supports fifth-generation networks, both millimeter-wave and below 6 GHz (Sub-6), in all major frequency bands around the world.
There is also a new engine for artificial intelligence tasks – the sixth generation Qualcomm AI Engine with a completely redesigned Qualcomm Hexagon coprocessor. It promises a significant jump in performance over the current Snapdragon 865 – up to 26 TOPS instead of the previous 15 TOPS.
And the Spectra’s built-in signal processor is capable of processing up to 2.7 gigapixels per second, which is roughly equal to 120 photos with a resolution of 12 megapixels. This is 35% faster than the current generation.
In the meantime, Amazfit has introduced the affordable GTS 2 Mini smartwatch.
