Qualcomm has officially unveiled its new flagship Snapdragon 888 processor and has unveiled all of its specifications. This processor will be the hardware platform for many flagship smartphones in 2021.
Snapdragon 888 is a 5nm chipset consisting of one high-performance ARM Cortex-X1 core at 2.4 GHz, three large Cortex-A78 cores at a maximum of 2.4 GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8 GHz. Compared to Snapdragon 865, the new chip offers 25% more performance. And the Adreno 660 graphics chip promises 35% faster graphics rendering than the previous generation.
The new SoC received an embedded Qualcomm Spectra 580 chip with three ISPs. This chip’s presence will allow all smartphones with Snapdragon 888 onboard to record 4K video from three cameras simultaneously. It also allows you to take photos with a resolution of 64 megapixels and record 4K video simultaneously. By the way, the chip also allows recording 8K videos, but with a frequency of 30 frames per second.
Another major improvement is that the 5G modem is now fully integrated into the main processor.
The new Snapdragon 888 supports Wi-Fi 6E, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.2. Smartphones with this processor support HD + resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate.
The first smartphones with Snapdragon 888 will be released early next year.
