Reputable insider Ming-Chi Kuo, who Wylsa.com calls the Sun Face for the most accurate predictions about future Apple products, said the new MacBook Pros will begin production in the third quarter of 2021. Yes, it’s coming right now. It is reported by MacRumors referring to Mr. Kuo.
The start of production does not mean that a presentation will take place in the third quarter. Min-Chi does not give specific dates. Some time ago, DigiTimes (it is not sunny, because mistakes happen) claimed that the announcement would take place at the September event.
However, the prediction is hard to believe: in this case, the event will be too intense. We are waiting for two iPhone models in two sizes at once (iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max), we are waiting for Apple Watch Series 7 with a slightly increased battery, as well as new iPads (probably basic and iPad mini 6 Gen). The last time Apple showed four fundamentally different devices was in September 2017, when the Apple Watch Series 3, Apple TV 4K, iPhone 8/8 Plus and iPhone X were presented. So it is very doubtful that laptops will be added to the usual September set.
The most logical option seems to be an event in October or November. In this case, Apple will have time to tell a lot about the new system-on-a-chip Apple M1X (we believe that the M2 will receive basic devices like the updated MacBook Air), and will also devote a separate part to other MacBook innovations. Let me remind you, they will lose the Touch Bar, but they will receive a slot for an SD card, built-in HDMI, a couple of USB Type-C, as well as two display diagonals: 14 and 16 inches. Both displays will be made using miniLED technology – exactly the same technology used in the new large iPad Pro 12.9 on the Apple M1.
Probably, it is with the displays that the main delay is associated. Some media outlets believe that because of this, the usual March presentation was postponed to April, and the new iPad Pros did not go on sale until May 21, and in very small quantities. Therefore, you should not be surprised if the situation repeats itself: the presentation will take place, for example, in October, and the start of sales will take place only in November.
