Los Caracoles Pass, Chile
Chile is home to this pretty trail which lies between Argentina and Chile. This South American road has been dubbed the ‘Snail’s Pass’ by locals because it’s really tricky to drive and the only way to traverse it is slowly and snail-like!
There are plenty of dizzyingly steep slopes known as switchbacks on this beautiful strip of road and the highest elevation is almost 10,500 feet up in the clouds. Most of the year sees Los Caracoles Pass covered in a blanket of snow, although you can see large trucks on it throughout the year.
