PNY has announced the LX2030 and LX3030 solid state drives. According to the manufacturer, they are characterized by “an even higher level of endurance”, therefore they are well suited for Proof-of-space applications such as mining the Chia cryptocurrency, sometimes called “farming” to emphasize the difference from “mining” – mining based on the use of computing resource.

In tasks such as mining Chia, the initial stage, performed once, is write-intensive, so the SSD requires a lot of bandwidth and resource. Typically, only enterprise-class solid-state drives have an adequate level of these indicators.

LX2030 and LX3030 SSDs are good for Chia mining, PNY says

PNY LX drives are said to use Lifextension technology, which allows Chia Plotting resource ratings of up to 54,000 TBW (in the case of the LX3030 2TB drive). For the LX3030 1TB drive, this parameter is 27,000, for the LX2030 2TB drive – 10,000. A set of measures made it possible to achieve such high values, including management of the drive using AI algorithms, advanced error detection and correction tools, and so on.

M.2 2280 drives are PCIe Gen 3 x4. In the case of the LX3030, the read speed reaches 3200 MB / s, the write speed is 2400 MB / s. In the case of the LX2030, the maximum values are 3200 MB / s and 1000 MB / s, respectively. The source does not provide prices.
