About an hour ago, a number of the world’s largest sites stopped working in many countries around the world. Google, Reddit, CNN, The Verge, Amazon, Bloomberg, Vimeo, Twitter and many others were affected.
The failure even affected UK government sites, preventing citizens from accessing the services.
The Verge, for example, began posting short tweets with links to full versions in Google Docs. Now some of the sites have already returned to normal operation.
It turned out that the culprit was Fastly, a CDN (Content Delivery Network) provider. The company has already identified the problem and is working on a solution, which allowed some of the sites to resume work.
