How to record a Zoom meeting via firmware
You can record your meeting directly with Zoom, but you need the host’s consent to do so, as they have rights to the content they post. For example, if we are talking about a training webinar or promotional presentation. To record a video, the host must open the Participant menu, select the Advanced section to the right of the name, and click the Allow Recording button.
You can also record a meeting using the built-in Zoom function if you are a moderator yourself. To do this, the “Record” button located at the bottom of the window, which looks like a circle with a dot inside, will happen.
After the conference, the program will automatically render the video and then save it. As a rule, you can find your entry in the folder “My Documents” – “Zoom.”
How to record a meeting in Zoom without a moderator’s permission
Of course, you can also record a Zoom conference using an external computer or smartphone screen capture software. This is possible, for example, with the free Open Broadcaster Software.
We have collected the best programs for recording video from the screen in a separate article. There are options for both computers and smartphones on Android and iOS.
When using alternative recording methods, you do not need the moderator’s consent for the program to work. However, we still recommend asking permission from the organizer and all conference participants if they are against saving their conversations and videos. It is also important to consider that the content you watch in Zuma may be copyrighted – such videos may not be redistributed or otherwise used for commercial purposes.
