The Chinese company FIMI, which is part of the Xiaomi ecosystem, recently released the X8 Mini foldable drone. The aircraft weighing less than 250 g is a direct competitor to the DJI Mini models. The source notes that in the United States, drones weighing less than 250 grams are not required to register with the Federal Aviation Administration.
The drone is equipped with a camera with a Sony CMOS image sensor. The optical format of the sensor is 1 / 2.6 inches. The resolution is 12 megapixels. The sensor works in tandem with a lens, the field of view is 80º (EGF – 26 mm). The camera is mounted on a 3-axis gimbal. It is capable of shooting 4K video at 30fps and HDR. Shooting with the F-log profile is possible. The stream rate is 100 Mbps. The H.265 codec is used. Streaming videos can be immediately posted to social media. It also provides photography with saving pictures in JPG and RAW format, zoom up to 3x, shooting panoramas and time-lapse photography.

The dimensions of the FIMI X8 Mini when folded are 165 x 89 x 47 mm when unfolded – 200 x 145 x 56 mm, which is almost identical to the DJI Mini dimensions 2. Without recharging, the device can hold out in the air for up to 30 minutes. The X8 Mini has a maximum speed of 16 m / s.
Acceptance of pre-orders will begin on April 6, sales – on April 18. The drone is priced at $449 by the manufacturer.
