Max Hodak, co-founder of Neuralink, which was founded by Elon Musk, said on Twitter that they could very well build a Jurassic Park with new species of real dinosaurs.
We could probably build Jurassic Park if we wanted to. There would be no genetically authentic dinosaurs in it, but perhaps after 15 years of selection and engineering, we would have got super-exotic new species.
Later, Max Hodak added that the extinction of species is an excellent reason for increasing biodiversity.
Biodiversity is definitely valuable, its conservation is important and makes sense. But why do we stop there? Why don’t we try to create new diversity more purposefully?
Using the latest advances in genetic research to create completely new creatures is certainly an interesting idea. The main thing is that this does not lead to negative consequences.
