The world, it seems, will no longer be the same – employers, who until recently, in principle, did not consider remote work of their employees, are now actively reducing office space and offering everyone to work from home. What if there is only one computer in the family, and there are many more applicants for it? In this case, simple and relatively affordable laptops have appeared in the assortment of many brands – they are quite capable of basic tasks such as browsing sites or working with mail. Today we have just such a model on the test: Digma Eve 14 C411.

The notebook is available only in gray and looks quite modern. The height of the case is only 2.3 cm, which is very good for a budget device. The corners are rounded, in the lower part there are massive rubber feet. The device stands very stable on the table, it is not so easy to move it.
The assortment of connectors is quite typical. A pair of USB-A (one 2.0, the second – 3.0), mini HDMI for connecting external monitors and projectors, 3.5 mm audio jack. There’s even a microSD slot. The charging connector is very similar to an audio jack, except that the location in the traditional place on the left side does not make it possible to confuse it.
The keyboard, of course, without a numeric keypad. In the lower right part there are navigation arrows. They also perform the functions PgUp, PgDn, Home and End when pressed with the Fn key. To the left of this block is the original key with various slash options. It is convenient to type the text, everything is fine with the feedback from the keyboard. It’s a pity that the backlight is not provided.
The touchpad is small in size, while it is made in black and stands out noticeably from the main body. In general, it is comfortable: fingers slide easily, pressing is felt distinctly.
Screen and hardware
Oddly enough, the display uses an IPS matrix, although more and more budget notebook manufacturers prefer cheaper TN. The colors on the screen are without any distortions, the viewing angles are very decent, the resolution is decent 1920×1080. Brightness is enough for indoor and cloudy weather outdoors, the matte finish largely eliminates glare. Problems can arise only under the sun, but we have not seen a single laptop in this price range that has a significant headroom for brightness.
Intel Celeron N3350 processor is quite a typical solution for devices of this class. Two cores run at 1.1 MHz, overclocking up to 2.4 GHz in Turbo Boost is supported. The amount of memory can be called sufficient. The RAM is 4 GB, the drive here is 128 GB, of which 88.5 are available to the user.
Feelings from work
Buying a laptop for 20,000 rubles, you need to understand that only basic tasks will be able to it. We tried Digma Eve 14 C411 in the most popular scenarios.
Office programs. Word or Excel takes about 4 seconds to open. Working with the text is quite comfortable, no freezes were noticed.
Surfing the Internet. In Edge, it’s better not to open many tabs – after the fifth one, some slowdowns are already noticeable.
Watching video over Wi-Fi. Videos on YouTube in 1080p resolution in full screen mode are played without friezes. The volume of the speakers is not too high, you have to crank it almost to the maximum.
Video calls. Conference participants did not complain about the sound quality: two microphones perfectly pick up speech. True, the 0.3 megapixel camera resolution makes itself felt – the image quality is still worse than that of those who get in touch with more expensive models. But this is only noticeable in full screen mode.
In principle, there were no annoying factors when working with a laptop. Of course, if you’ve upgraded to the Digma Eve 14 C411 from an expensive Ultrabook, you’ll notice slower performance when loading programs and saving files. But for a dual-core Celeron, this is quite normal.
The autonomy of any laptop is highly dependent on the set screen brightness level. Since we were working indoors, 50% brightness was enough. Using the browser and office programs, the battery lasted for about 5 hours. The charger is small, so you can carry it with you in case the battery runs out at the wrong time.
Bottom line: is the Digma Eve 14 C411 worth buying?
Aside from being spoiled for significantly more expensive laptops, the Digma Eve 14 C411 is well suited for remote work or study. You can start using it right after unpacking: the operating system is already installed, the drive is large enough. The model is nice, comfortable, with the possibility of upgrading by installing an additional hard drive or SSD. It is unlikely that it will be possible to play, except in hits of the early 2000s like “Heroes …”
Separately, we note the high-quality matrix of the screen. This is true for those who want to not only work, but also watch videos in their free time. The battery should be enough for a couple of full-length films.
Yes, there are some features that give out the budget. For example, “playing” plastic of the case or a low-resolution camera. But they are not annoying, and you can put up with them. Especially after monitoring the prices of modern compact laptops.
