Google is closing its next brainchild. There is now a separate application for managing and configuring network parameters directly from your smartphone for the Google Wifi and Nest Wifi routers. It’s called Google Wifi, but this standalone app will soon cease to exist.
In fact, there is nothing wrong with that. Google Wifi functionality will be available in the more versatile Google Home app.
On May 25, 2021, Google will disable the core functionality of the Google Wifi app. Users can only check the application’s network status, but no changes can be made, including adding new routers or access points. However, all this can be done in Google Home.
In June, Google will remove the Google Wifi app from the Google Play Store and App Store and end support for existing users.
