Manufacturers of battery technology recommend refraining from using it in high humidity conditions. Mowing a wet lawn or directly in the rain is a risk of harm to life and health. And the mowing process itself in such weather is associated with many difficulties. Let’s take a look at some of them.

First, the heavy wet grass makes the collector heavy. This increases the physical stress on the user when emptying it. Secondly, in mulching mode, the grass sticks to the blade and the inside of the deck, resulting in an uneven distribution of grass over the lawn. Instead of fertilizing, the cut grass begins to rot, and as a result, bald spots form on the green lawn.

In addition, a wet lawn is softer because the soil underneath is soaked. In such a situation, it is very easy to damage the turf while mowing, especially when a wheel drive must be connected to assist in climbing.

Another problem is wet grass sticking to the blades and deck, which increases the load on the motor and prevents the blade from turning freely. This can lead to overheating, overloading the motor and rapid failure of the device. Wet grass also clogs the holes through which the various shafts pass, driving, for example, a knife. Due to the high rotation speed, the wet mass is heated, which is also fraught with consequences, for example, melting of rubber and plastic parts adjacent to the shaft.

And, of course, the main reason why you should refrain from mowing wet grass or mowing in the rain with electric mowers is the risk of electric shock. And it doesn’t matter what the location of the motor of the device is – lower or upper. There is a risk of electric shock. At the bottom, water can penetrate from the lawn, at the top – from precipitation. It doesn’t matter how well the mower is protected from moisture. In any case, the device has natural wear and tear during operation, is exposed to mechanical influences – such as falling of the device itself or falling objects on it.

There are many brands of electric lawn mowers today. Some of the most popular are Karcher models such as the LMO 18-33 Battery Set.

The batteries in Karcher electric lawn mowers have a shock-resistant housing and are also protected from moisture according to the IPX5 standard – that is, they are not afraid of direct jets of water. A special cover is provided in the place where the battery is installed to protect the battery and contacts from moisture and dirt. Intelligent battery management prevents the device from overheating and also ensures a long service life. Even so, the manufacturer does not recommend using the device in the rain or on wet grass.
