Popular ride-sharing service BlaBlaCar announced today that it would charge for its services. The tax will be collected from passengers at the time of booking a seat in the car.
At first, this system will only work for long trips, and then others will spread. In this case, the first use (after the update) will not be charged. The passenger will be notified that the next time they will be charged for the booking. The service fee will depend on the length of the route.
BlaBlaCar explained that the introduction of a service fee would help drivers and passengers become more responsible. In some countries, where the fee was introduced much earlier, it was possible to reduce the number of travel cancellations by 40%.
