LG will close its mobile division on July 31. This was reported on the official LG blog back in early April:
Despite the fact that the mobile division has brought only losses for the company over the past few years, in South Korea, LG smartphones occupied 13% of the market. Quite a large share, which is already being divided among other players.
According to a Korean news agency Yonhap, two companies are going to launch the Trade-In program at once, within the framework of which LG smartphones will be exchanged for brand new devices.
Apple will offer an exchange for the iPhone 12 and 12 mini at a discount of up to 150 thousand won (approximately $ 135 or 10 thousand rubles). The main condition is that the LG smartphone must be in possession for more than a month. Whether there are any other requirements for participation is unknown. For example, it is logical that not every model will be given a discount of 150,000 won. Apparently, the action will last until September 25th.
However, not only Apple was thinking about such a promotion. The leader of the South Korean smartphone market, Samsung with a 65% share, is also going to launch a similar promotion. The size of the discount is unknown, but the promotion will last until June 30, and LG smartphones will be exchanged for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Flip 5G and Galaxy Note20.
