Apple has published a new patent that describes a special anodized layer that absorbs light. In simple terms, in the future, we are waiting for truly black devices.

The etched anodized surface is capable of absorbing almost all visible light falling on it. As a result, the material has a matte surface with a low gloss level, which, combined with black particles that penetrate the pores of the material, can render the surface completely black.

From patent application

The first device with the “correct” black body color can probably be the new MacBook, rumors about which appeared relatively recently. According to insiders, the novelty should be expected in the second half of 2021.

The patent also refers to light-absorbing anodized aluminum in other products such as the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. I look forward to it! The main thing is that it does not rub in the same way as gray in laptops and does not leave marks on your hands.
