A copy of Super Mario Bros. for the NES in near-perfect condition was auctioned for $ 660,000. Of these, the owner of the lot, for which 13 participants fought, received 550,000 dollars. This copy was one of the first games to go on sale in the United States in new packaging for that time – covered in the film. An unopened copy of Super Mario Bros.  sold for a record $ 660,000

The copy sold at auction dates from the end of 1986. It was allegedly bought as a Christmas present and had been lying unopened in a drawer the whole time.

“I never thought about him,” said the salesperson, who asked to remain anonymous.
