AMD has officially confirmed that Samsung’s new Exynos SoC will feature an RDNA2 GPU. GPUs based on the RDNA2 architecture were first introduced in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
This information was announced by the CEO of AMD Lisa Su (Lisa Su) at the event dedicated to the launch of the computer exhibition AMD Taipei Computer Show. The head of AMD has confirmed that a high-performance GPU based on RDNA2 will also hit the mobile market. Lisa Su added that AMD has licensed its GPUs to Samsung to help it develop cutting-edge technologies such as ray tracing and variable frame rate rendering.
During the presentation, a snapshot was shown that mentions the latest Samsung Exynos SoC with a new AMD GPU. Lisa Su added that Samsung will provide full details before the end of the year.
According to previous news, this platform will be called Exynso 2200. It will be used not only for smartphones, but also for laptops. Some sources point out that the Exynos 2200 will be 25% faster than the Exynos 2100 and the GPU will be 150% faster.
This Samsung Exynos SoC is expected to compete with the Snapdragon 895 and will be used in the Samsung Galaxy S22 and other models.
It was also announced that the RDNA2 will receive Tesla vehicles.
