How do they look
Earphones Galaxy Buds + not so long ago, they began to be sold in Russia in four colors: white, black, blue and red. We have the most versatile white model on the test.
Despite the fact that the headphone case is glossy, fingerprints are not visible on the light one – it looks elegant and stylish. It is also pleasing that the case is compact – it fits easily into a pocket, not to mention bags and backpacks.
On the outside of each earphone there is a glossy overlay – these are touch buttons. Their functions can be configured to answer calls, switch tracks, change the volume, or launch a voice assistant. Moreover, the headphones support not only one press, but also double and even triple – so that you do not have to take out your smartphone at all.
Each earphone weighs about 6 grams. Due to their light weight and comfortable design – after all, the earplugs sit best because of their softness – the headphones are almost not felt in the ears. With them, you can safely run and ride in transport – nothing will fall out and will not interfere.
How do they sound
As you know, Samsung actively cooperates with the audio equipment manufacturer AKG. So Galaxy Buds + received a set of advanced features from the renowned company. First, it uses two-way speakers. This means that the bass and treble are reproduced by different drivers – this technology allows you to achieve the clearest and most balanced sound.
Secondly, each earphone is equipped with three microphones: two external and one internal. This allows you to accurately cut off external noises while talking on the phone – as a result, the interlocutor will hear your voice, and not what is happening around. Convenient when traveling by public transport or walking along a noisy street.
When it comes to sound, it is not for nothing that AKG is considered one of the best companies among audiophiles. We listened to music of different genres on Buds + – from Russian pop in the form of Polina Gagarina to heavy metal from Guns’N Roses. I liked that in complex tracks with a bunch of soundtracks like Welcome To The Jungle, there are no dominant frequencies: bass, voice and musical instruments sound evenly. Nothing is lost even during an electric guitar solo – and this is very cool, since you can hear all the sounds at once, and not cut off fragments.
What they can do
Since the Buds + are vacuum headphones, they have excellent noise canceling performance. They can be reliably isolated from external stimuli. For example, when we were working at the computer, we did not even hear the sound of the keyboard, let alone the voices of our colleagues. In the subway, headphones are also noticeably more comfortable – you listen to music, not the noise of traffic.
To prevent noise cancellation from becoming dangerous – for example, while running – Samsung has added a background sound feature to the headphones. When it is turned on, you can hear better everything that is happening around. You can activate it with one touch on the earpiece – it is more convenient than turning down the volume or even removing the headset to hear something important.
The button settings, as we have already said, can be set manually – for this you need to download the Samsung Wearable app and a separate module for Galaxy Buds +. Then everything is very simple: the main menu with headphone parameters, battery level and touch panel settings.
A very cool feature that we have not yet seen in other models: if you lose the earphone, you can buy a new one (one piece) and connect it to the old one. For most headsets, this trick will not work – the case will begin to resent that someone else’s earpiece is put in it, and as a result, the loss of one detail will cost the loss of the entire device. In Buds +, everything is logical and simple: the case will simply create a new pair by linking the headphones together, no matter what sets they are from.
How many work and get infected
Gone are the days when fully wireless earbuds could last two hours at most. Today, autonomy at the level of 5-6 hours is considered good form. Galaxy Buds + can even last up to 11 hours on a single charge. If you often turn on the background sound function and turn the volume up to maximum, then the headphones will sit down a little faster.
During the test, we used the gadget for one and a half to two hours a day, and the full charge was enough for the whole week – and the case still had more than half. From the case, by the way, the earbuds can be charged one full time – if you take it into account, the total operating time without recharging will be about 22 hours.
The case itself charges super quickly – three minutes at the outlet will already provide an hour of music playback. It takes about an hour to fully charge the case.
The Buds + also support wireless charging – but it’s slower. In theory, wireless charging should only work with individual Qi stations and Samsung smartphones, but we managed to recharge the case from one of the HUAWEI flagships. So maybe if your smartphone supports reverse charging, then you can also charge Galaxy Buds + from it.
Who is Galaxy Buds + for?
It will be most convenient to use Buds + with Samsung smartphones – on them both the charge level is visible on the main screen, and the Wearable application is immediately installed. However, if you have a different phone, this is not a big problem, because the sound will be just as cool, and the autonomy will remain at its best. We also liked the design of the headphones – the earplugs sit quite comfortably in the ears and are well insulated from external noise.
