According to Max Weinbach, AirTags will be very small: 32mm in diameter and 6mm in thickness. That is, the size of the marks will be slightly larger than a five-ruble coin (25 mm in diameter, 1.8 mm in thickness). This is reported by the YouTube channel EverythingApplePro with a link to an insider:
This means that the AirTag will be significantly smaller than the SmartTag (39.1 x 39.1 x 9.9 mm):
The sizes are smaller, but the price is higher. The difference with the Samsung SmartTag will be $ 10, AirTag will cost about $ 39.
However, it is not yet known exactly when Apple will show the new device. The appearance in the iOS 14.5 beta of the “Elements” tab in the “Locator” application gives hope that the release of the accessory will take place soon:
However, do not forget that AirTag was first found in the iOS 13 code, which was introduced almost two years ago.
There is a possibility that the release will take place in April. However, it is not yet clear whether this will be a press release or a separate event. The positioning of the tags is also unclear: if this is a device designed to search for objects while traveling, then why present it now, when travel is almost impossible?
It is also not yet very clear whether AirTag will work in Russia, where the U1 chip is disabled due to the requirements of the military and the FSB.
