In the modern world, it is not difficult to choose a laptop for your tasks: if you need a powerful system, there are gaming models; if you need compactness and mobility, there are ultrabooks; if you need reliability and durability, there are protected models. But sometimes, you want it all to be in one device. In this case, a powerful, compact, and rugged notebook Acer ENDURO N3 can be an excellent solution.
Rugged laptops are usually very bulky and heavy, as they need to be resistant to drops and shocks, as well as dust and moisture. When developing the ENDURO N3, Acer engineers decided to make an exception to the rule. They ended up with a laptop with a 14-inch display that is IP53 dust and moisture resistant, has the MIL-STD-810G military durability certificate, and at the same time weighs 1,985 kg and is less than 25 mm thick.
The laptop case is made of shock-resistant material and has shock-absorbing inserts at the corners for added protection. The laptop display is also protected by toughened Corning Gorilla Glass, which is resistant to scratches and protects from moisture. Acer has paid special attention to protecting the hard drive because they are susceptible to falls – even a light blow can be enough to damage and lose data. But in ENDURO N3, the drive has a reinforced mount that will protect you in any situation.
The IP53 certification mentioned above means that the laptop is protected from small particles and dust entering the case, as well as water splashes. This allows you to use your laptop outdoors in almost any weather and high humidity. All connectors are protected from moisture, and there are holes under the keyboard to drain the liquid. Moreover, the laptop has a proprietary Aquafan fan, which repels water splashes, so that moisture will not get inside the laptop through the cooling system either.
In turn, compliance with the MIL-STD-810G standard means that the laptop is resistant to very harsh conditions. It can work without problems at temperatures from -20 to +60 ° C and in aggressive environments. But for many, it will be more important than the Acer ENDURO N3 will survive a fall from a height of up to 1.2 meters, and it is also not afraid of constant vibrations and strong shaking.
At the same time, Acer ENDURO N3 has an attractive and laconic design. The laptop is made in black, without any bright inserts and overly prominent elements. Thanks to this, as noted by Acer itself, the laptop will look equally good both for a presentation in the office and for a hike in the rain or snow.
However, it is not enough for a general-purpose work laptop to have an attractive appearance and a protected case. Inside, it must have a very productive filling to successfully and quickly perform even heavy work tasks. ENDURO N3 laptop uses 10th Gen Intel Core processors from the Comet Lake-U family. The manufacturer offers an Intel Core i7-10510U chip with four cores, eight threads, and a frequency of up to 4.9 GHz in the maximum configuration. More affordable configurations include a Core i5-10210U (four cores, eight threads, up to 4.2 GHz), and the most affordable ones are an Intel Core i3-10110U with two cores, four threads, and a frequency of up to 4.1 GHz.
The laptop can also be equipped with a discrete graphics card NVIDIA GeForce MX230, up to 32 GB of RAM, a hard drive up to 2 TB, and a solid-state drive PCle 3.0 NVMe up to 1 TB. All this guarantees a high level of performance, which will be sufficient for virtually any task assigned to a work laptop. Even with 3D modeling and video rendering, the device will cope quite successfully.
We also note the rich set of interfaces, including an Ethernet network port, HDMI and VGA video outputs, two USB 3.2, USB-C ports, a memory card slot, and a 3.5 mm audio jack, as well as an RS-232 connector. Wireless interfaces are represented by Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 modules.
A work laptop, at which the user spends a lot of time, must be equipped with a high-quality display. In the rugged ENDURO N3, Acer has taken care of that too. The laptop is equipped with an IPS panel display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) with a diagonal of 14 inches. The screen has a very high brightness, which allows you to work comfortably in any light, including outdoors.
One of the most important components of any modern laptop is its autonomy. After all, what’s the use of a device that is not capable of working on battery for more than a couple of hours. And this is especially true for work systems like the considered ENDURO N3 because they are just designed for outdoor use and, accordingly, away from the outlet. Acer ENDURO N3 can work from a fully charged battery for up to 13 hours. Of course, this time will be less under high load, but on average, the laptop can function a full day.
Since the laptop in question is primarily a working system, personal information safe is very important. To protect data, ENDURO N3 is equipped with a TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) security system, which will not allow access to files without users’ knowledge. Also, there is a fingerprint reader and support for Windows Hello for quick and secure login.
In general, the Acer ENDURO N3 can be called a balanced rugged notebook for work in almost any environment. Acer has been able to create a laptop that will satisfy the needs of almost any user. In one case, we managed to combine the incompatible: high performance, protection from physical influences, and compactness. This is not often seen.
